Mission: Side Plots
Location: Barisa Prime Starbase.
Timeline: (back post) Barisa Prime Shore Leave, Day 1

Xalanth let out a sigh as he pressed a few buttons on the armour locking it down causing the doors to lock shut. The last of the ship's armouries now checked and secured. They wouldn't be needed while the ship was docked and secured at the starbase. Logging it down in his padd he headed for the turbo-lift. It didn't take him long before he was stepping out of the ship and into the starbase docking section. Seeing his captain he politely waited for her to finish talking to the officers before approaching. "Captain the ship is now in starbase lockdown. All armouries checked and secured." He said handing her the padd to sign it off.

The Captain took the PADD and without looking at it, handed it over to her Second Officer, Eirly Andersen, who was still fairly new to the position. Remy gave her a brief look, her silence being the indicator that Eirly was to take charge.

Eirly took the padd with a nod and a smile before taking a deep breath in and out.
Looking over the padd in front of her, she nodded, "This looks like it's all in order, Lieutenant." She looked at Xalanth and smiled, "I've actually been meaning to catch up with you to see how you were doing with the new responsibilities, but that can wait until after. Have you got many plans for your time off?"

"Oh, i have....." Xalanth began before a strange loud yet clearly happy chirping filled the area. What appeared to be a red blur shot across the docking area and latched itself to Xalanths leg. Then another. And another and another.

Xalanth let out a happy cheer as he picked up the four little lizards which when not moving so fast were clearly his daughters. The dragonian DNA was clearly the most dominant, but each one bore obvious signs of their non-dragonian mother. One's ear holes bore a visible sign of being pointed, another eyes were a milky black whilst the other two both bore a more rounded features. "Lersi, Amrar, Antistia, Lwiari. My little stars it's good to see you. " The dragonian said softly as his happy daughters nuzzled their short raptor snouts into him clearly happy to see their father.

He looked over at his bosses his eyes giving an apologetic look at being interrupted, but the look on his face showed how happy he was.

Remy knew that Xalanth had a large family but that didn't mitigate the surprize of seeing four young children run at Xalanth all at once. "I didn't realize you had family coming," Remy commented.

"I didn't know that either," Eirly added. She'd spoken with Xalanth about the importance of family but it was still an odd sight to see. "Care to introduce us?" she offered in a warm and welcoming tone with an added smile.

"I didn't think they'd be here for another week." Xalanth grinned. " I guess T'para and Lelani managed to get here earlier. "

"Now the two girls with the blond scale pattern along their heads are Lersi and Lwiari my girls with my beloved Fulvia. " he said smiling at the two of them. One was clearly the youngest of the four.

"And the other two young ladies are Amrar and Antistia my second born from T'para and Lelani." he said gesturing his head to the other girls in his arms.

"Are you my daddy's new captain?" Amrar asked the two women a happy smile still plastered on her face.

Remy put her hands on her knees and bent at her waist to bring herself closer to the children's height. "Well, I am. Captain Remy Johansen. "It's nice to finally meet all of you. Your dad talks about you all the time."

"This is my Department Chief, Lieutenant Commander Eirly Andersen. She's in security just like your dad."

Eirly watched the girls and how happy they made Xalanth, "Technically, I'm your dad's boss, and the Captain here is my boss. But, I do believe that your dad was just about to tell us all what his plans were for the four of you. I think he's got something really fun planned, right, Lieutenant?"

"Well, I'll be spending my time with these wonderful girls. I belive their mothers need a break. " Xalanth said grinning at the four children in his arms.

As if the scene couldn't be more crowded there was another " Dad!!!!!!!!!" As two more dragonian hybrid children ran in and hugged their father. Both of them were clearly older than the ones in their father's arms. Not that didn't stop the security officer from managing to hug them as well. " Yazar, Travla it's good to see you again." He said smiling. " Captain, Commander these are my first and second born Yazar and Travla." He explained.

Travla smiled at the two giving them a wave. It looked like she was trying to say something but nothing came from her lips. Yazar stopped hugging her father and turned to the pair. " Nice to meet you thank you for bringing my dad back safely."

"Of course. We always try to keep everyone safe," Remy said. "But if I do say so, I think your dad knows how to look after himself. I am sorry, I am going to have a hard time keeping track of who belongs to who. You're Fulvia's daughter? She also knows how to take care of herself too, I've learned."

Remy looked at Xalanth questioningly. She noticed the child trying to speak.

"No well, I am. T'para is my birth mother, Fulvia is my Valshara." Yazar replied with a smile as she gestured to the pointed ear she had.

Xalanth noticed the look and spoke up." It's okay hunny they won't mind if you talk telepathically." He said giving a reassuring grip to his black-eyed daughter. "Travla suffers from kazanta syndrome. It happens rarely with Betazoid hybrids, her brain wiring is a little messed up. Her paracortex is rather large and presses onto the rest of her brain. She'll be able to talk just fine when she's old enough and they can correct it, but for now, she has to talk telepathically. " he explained.

A soft voice echoed in the two women's heads. A simple "Hello it's nice to meet you." Came as Xalanth's second youngest gave the two of them a warm smile.

"Oh!" Remy was startled by the voice briefly, but quickly recovered then smiled. "Hello, it's nice to meet you too," she replied.

Xalanth kept smiling as he felt another voice in his head. "Imzadi?" Came the soft voice of his second. "I'm here my compassion. The girls are with me" He said softly to the voice which was getting stronger and stronger.

Around the corner came two women. Even though they were in causal clothing the posture and walk of Starfleet officers was unmistakable. If any were of a particular batch of cadets from the San Francisco academy one would recognise the pair. They had been on the recruitment posters after all. The human/Vulcan hybrid and the betazoid smiled as they approached the red lizard and the small army of daughters.

"Captain, Commander may I introduce Doctor's T'para and Lelani. My first and second. They'll be joining us on the ship in medical and counselling." he explained beaming with pride and love.

"I'm looking forward to it. We've had a hard time filling the counselor's spot, so it will be great to actually have someone on board," Remy said with enthusiasm.

Remy noticed Samuel coming from the ship and into the Starbase and waved him over. "Let me introduce you to Samuel, he's my uh... well, we've been seeing each other," Remy stated, stumbling over her words slightly realizing she'd never defined him as anything out loud.

As he left the ship, Samuel noticed the knot of bodies, mostly Dragonian, off to his left. When he saw Mister Xalanth, he smiled warmly, realizing that he was seeing a very happy reunion between father and children. It was something that he hoped he would experience one day.

As he was about to continue into the station, he saw Remy waving him over. Smiling again, he changed direction and moved to her side, discreetly taking her hand as, while they had danced in public, there had yet to be any true public declaration of their relationship. And given her position, he felt it appropriate to move things at her speed. "Hello all," he said with a grin. "Mister Xalanth, I must say, you have a beautiful family. You are a very lucky man, Sir."

"I am aren't I?" Xalanth said smiling at his family being reunited. All they needed was.....

"Mummy!!!!!!" Yelled the two hybrids with streaks of yellow scales across their head that Xalanth had called Amrar, Lwiari wriggled out of there fathers arms and ran to the manga roman who had just turned into the corridor.

Fulvia smiled letting out a happy cry in manga Latin as she hugged her girls and saw the rest of her family. "T'para, Lelani it's does one heart well to see my soror uxores well. Thank you for looking after my little ones." She said to the two officers who smiled as they embraced her.

"You'd do the same for us and ours." T'para replied with a smile her oddly California sounding accent being an eyebrow-raiser for anyone.

Lelani turned to look at the captain. "We're glad to be here captain. We've been separated as a family for far too long."

"Yes, you have," Remy agreed. "Starfleet's policy is to keep families together, and with Xalanth being assigned to a ship as large as ours, there was really no good reason to keep everyone apart."

"All we need is Zola and Cemet and we'll be fully whole again." Xalanth added with a smile.

A grin formed on T'para and Lelani faces as the hybrid drew a padd and handed it to the lizard. If the smile on his face could get any bigger his head would split open as he let out a high-pitched primordial cheer of happiness. " Her transfer back been confirmed," he said glancing over to his captain. "True it will take a while, but I'll be able to hold her again and Cemet for the first time."

"That's going to be a momentus occasion for you all, without a doubt," Eirly gave them a warm smile. "I'm sure that if you're wanting to take some leave to spend it together, that wouldn't be a problem at all." She looked to Remy for confirmation even though Xalanth was in her department and approval ultimately resided with her.

"And when that day does arrive," Samuel offered, "Let me know, Mister Xalanth, for I will shut down Paddy's Loft for the day, and hold it for you and your family to have a celebration." He gave the officer a friendly grin, then nodded to the rest of the man's family that was present. He finished with looking down into Remy's beautiful eyes and his smile grew a noticably warmer.

Xalanth smiled at both Eirly and Samuel. " Thank you both of you. I will be sure to take you up on your offer. You can't begin to imagine how much it hurts being apart from them."

Samuel gave Xalanth a pained grin, as he thought about how his entire family has been murdered by the Borg, when they attacked his homeworld. However, he didn't say anything, merely giving Remy's hand a squeeze.

"Please let the quartermaster's office know your needs if you haven't already. I know I had told them you might be adding on eventually, so I think at least one direction should be open for expansion," Remy offered.

" Thank you, captain. I'll let them know if we need anything." Xalanth replied doing his best to keep a hold of the young hybrids clinging to him.

Samuel smiled as he stood next to Remy. It was clear that family was important to her, just as much as her crew's families were. That was the sign of a great commanding officer, in his opinion.
