They keep in shape through various (and sometimes slightly risky) activities, and they would describe themselves as decently athletic. They have a couple of tattoos on their arms: a simple outline of a Nova class starship with the gamma symbol in the middle on their left shoulder, a small pair of wings resembling a cross between a butterfly and a bird on their left forearm, and a stylish design resembling a circle with broken larger circles around it and some key-shaped branches on their right wrist.

The spots starting at their forehead, down the sides of their neck, and trailing down their front as two distinct lines are the typical markings of a Trill, and they continue down the legs and fade out at the toes.

Personality & Traits

General Overview Jezra can be quiet, but they’re not as introverted as people may think. They enjoy company and don't mind being a listener in a conversation. A lot of the time, if they are being quiet then they’re usually lost in thought. If someone offers, they are always eager to learn new things. Jezra generally tends to avoid conflict at all costs, and if they can’t then they try to de-escalate it before using physical means. A lot of their personality is influenced by Siv’s previous hosts.

Siv’s first and fourth hosts, Rigon and Sialle, played big roles in Jezra’s professional demeanor. While one was a pediatric physician and the other was a field medic during the first half of the Dominion War, it gave Jezra a wider understanding in their field. Jezra loves children, even though they don’t often interact with many children on starships, and Sialle’s experience in the field resulted in different methods of treatment, particularly when supplies were limited or nonexistent.

Yarem enjoyed cooking, but he did have a slight temper when the occasional snobby customer came through his restaurant on Trill. He worked past retirement and was finally forced to stop when his health caught up to him. While Siv remembers all of their past hosts’ memories, Yarem’s cooking was a prominent trait that got passed on.

Kohnia became Siv’s fourth host after hearing of Yarem’s deteriorating health, and delayed accepting a job off of Trill to be available for the procedure. Kohnia Siv loved to see new places, and became a civilian botanist/herbalist on board a Federation ship. Often enough, she found herself working with the medical staff on board, and became friends with one of the young scientists named Cecil. There was even a hint of a romance between them, but it never took off.

Finally, Jedex. He was the last option to receive the Siv symbiont. All the hosts in line before him couldn't reach the symbiont in time for the procedure. While Jedex had passed initiation, he was put low on the list of hosts because of his tendency to do risky and often dangerous activities. He happened to be in the right place at the wrong time when Sialle died, and since he had no medical expertise aside from his hosts’ experiences, he went back to Trill on the next ship heading there. Once joined to Siv, his personality did change, but only slightly. He was still in love with risk-taking, but there was a little more caution and consideration in his actions, thanks to the wisdom of the previous hosts. But don't be fooled, he was still reckless, and it ended up being his fate.

While Jezra has all of their previous hosts’ memories, they know that Jedex was careless in his actions and take precautions to avoid a similar fate. The patience from Rigon in particular helped with that, and they still enjoy activities that get the heart pumping, but they take great care in making sure they don’t hurt themselves or Siv.
Strengths & Weaknesses + A century's worth of medical knowledge, thanks to two of Siv’s hosts. This allows them to use various methods and resources to treat patients, especially when supplies are limited, but since it was all older and outdated medicine it rarely had much use aside from what diseases were around during those times.

+ They are quite patient in most situations, but particularly as a doctor.

+/- When challenged, Jezra is determined to prove themself, but sometimes they take it too personally and don’t know when to back off.

+/- Jedex was a bit of a daredevil, which ultimately led him to his death, so it is both a strength and a weakness for Jezra. As a strength, they are not as afraid to do certain risky tasks that the average humanoid may find daunting, and additionally they learned to be careful when they do such activities. As a weakness, it makes Jezra quite afraid of water because it was how Jedex died. They are also uncomfortable with space suits for the same reason.

- They can sometimes overwork themself, especially in stressful times.

- Like all joined Trill, Jezra and Siv cannot be separated from each other. Doing so would result in death to both of them.

- Extremely allergic to insect bites.
Ambitions Aside from being the best medic they can be, Jezra wants to avoid becoming like their father, who used his symbiont’s memories to commit crimes that landed him in prison. They vowed to never be like him and misuse the symbiont when they joined.

Jezra does feel guilt for being unable to save more people during the Cidrin Battle, and it’s an ongoing process to accept what happened.

A special part of Jezra’s heart lies in research, so they would love to be able to make a name for themselves by working on and publishing important research. Perhaps finding a creative way to solve a medical problem.

Jezra still sometimes confuses their pronouns thanks to being joined, and they would like to get better, or at least consistent.
Hobbies & Interests Something that got passed down via Siv was Yarem's love for cooking. As such, Jezra knows a wide variety of foods, and even a couple recipes that have been otherwise lost to the times. It’s not out of place to see them in the mess hall kitchen.

They’ve got a slight daredevil side to them, which makes them more adventurous than their pre-joined self. From their previous hosts, they also gained an interest in holophotography, billiards, and mazes, particularly constructing them in the holodeck.

Jezra enjoys games with friends. They like the sense of community it brings, and even if they've never played the game before, they are willing to learn.

Personal History Jezra was born in 2355 and had a fairly normal childhood. Her father joined when she was 7, which intrigued her and sparked her interest in becoming a joined Trill. Growing up, she studied the vermiform lifeforms in school, but experienced a little hesitation in their teens when she saw how her father changed, in a negative way. While her pre-joined self was young and naive, she knew she didn't want to end up like her father, whose actions were not uncovered until Jezra went off to Starfleet Academy.

The idea of applying to the Trill Symbiosis Initiate Program was pushed to the back of her mind as she started to focus on their career. She had an interest in medicine, but more as a curiosity. As she took her classes, she found that she enjoyed learning about the practice, and decided to continue her career as a physician. Whenever opportunities arose to shadow doctors, Jezra would take the opportunity.

She had applied to the Academy in 2374, but with the ongoing Dominion War during that time, her acceptance was delayed until 2375, as the war came to an end. Once accepted, Jezra went to Earth to start her first year at the Academy, and it was then that she learned her father had been imprisoned. This put her into another field of doubt about her plan to become an initiate, but she had three more years to decide on it. As she progressed through their courses, she gained a confidence she didn't know she had, which would drive her to ultimately apply for the initiate program during her senior year.

When she graduated in 2379, Jezra went back to Trill and went into the initiate program with confidence. As she went through the rigorous training, she volunteered at a local hospital, and after three years, completed the program. It was a stressful time for her, as the program was no easy task, but with support from their siblings and friends she made it through. Unsure of what symbiosis would look like in Starfleet, Jezra requested that her first position be on a starbase close to Trill. As such, her first year as a Starfleet Ensign happened on Starbase 310.

After getting more comfortable with her duties, Jezra moved to the USS Missouri, helping deliver medical supplies to the planets devastated by the Dominion War. As an Ensign at the time, Jezra was tasked with making sure the supplies were inventoried and that the right supplies went to the correct planet. While it was several years, some of the planets that had been overtaken by Dominion forces had the most rebuilding to do. In addition to delivering supplies, the ship also did some patrolling along the Cardassian border. The ship encountered several skirmishes and the occasional space anomaly there.

Two years later, Jezra went into a completely different world on board the USS Colossal, which was an ironically small Nova class vessel that explored parts of the Gamma Quadrant and encountered quite a few confrontations as well. When the Bajoran wormhole collapsed, the Colossal went from primarily science exploration to one of several other ships defending the Federation outposts from Dominion forces. During that time, Jezra found herself with a new position of Assistant CMO after a deadly battle against the Dominion that claimed a good number of those on board. It was a tense time, and a couple times she was worried that she would die out in the harsh conditions of space. She officially got promoted to a Junior Grade Lieutenant after the wormhole was reopened, and she found out later that her CMO had commented on her ability to step up in a tough situation.

Jezra had mixed feelings about being stranded in the Gamma Quadrant. It was both an exciting and terrifying experience, and it changed her. It changed many; the Colossal's original mission was to continue exploration of the Gamma Quadrant, and it ended up becoming a battleship in the process. Jezra stayed with the Colossal until the ship’s Captain was one of the many Starfleet personnel lost in what the surviving crew called the Cidrin Battle, a conflict near a newly classified star they had discovered.

Devastated by the loss of many dear friends, captain included, Jezra nearly handed in her resignation when the ship eventually limped back to the nearest starbase. Knowing that a resignation was a drastic step, she put in for a few months of leave so she could focus on themselves. For about six months, she spoke with counselors to process the trauma of losing so many crewmates. She found ways to cope with the memories, even though they occasionally haunted her, and soon enough she passed the psychological evaluations needed to return to active status.

Then, Jedex died.

Jezra was somewhat close to Trill when it happened, but the procedure was still done in a shuttle rendezvous because the event was so abrupt. The first memory they had when they awoke from the procedure was of his drowning and the suffocating feeling. It made Jezra panic before the doctors in the room convinced them that they were alright and safe on Trill. The extended leave lasted a couple more months so Jezra could get additional training to help them adjust to the memories, especially since Siv’s previous host had experienced a traumatic death, before Jezra could return to their Starfleet duties. Jezra underwent zhian’tara as part of this training, where they had learned of Sialle’s experiences during the Dominion War. After a very long talk with the past hosts and extra training, Jezra felt more comfortable with not only her memories, but the memories of the other hosts, and decided to officially return to active status.

While on board the USS Venture as ACMO, they made a couple new friends, Arianne and Krel. Jezra had been sure to request a position that would be less prone to danger so they could ease back into things. The Venture kept to business within the Alpha Quadrant, and after the CMO moved on to another position, Jezra was offered the title. Accepting the promotion with reservations, Jezra soon realized that running the department was very different from assisting the department head. It ended up helping them get out of their shell again, mostly through keeping them too busy to think about the past.

In 2389, Jezra was invited to attend the christening of the new USS Colossal-A, a Sovereign class that would continue the original ship’s mission to explore the Gamma Quadrant. They hesitantly accepted, unsure of how the ceremony would make them feel after three years, especially once they found out that other surviving crew would be in attendance as well. While en route to the ceremony, Jezra got notified of transfer orders to the USS Astrea, and they requested that their anticipated arrival be delayed by 24 hours so they could attend the ceremony. Since the Astrea was on shore leave, it was a simple enough request to accommodate.
