Mission:
The Menagerie: side stories & mischief making
Location: T'lenn's Quarters
Timeline: MD 0, After The Seller
T'lenn left the meeting regarding what she and Commander Winters had overheard about a possible Pakled business deal and decided to use what limited time she had to check messages and touch base with Jason before she went back to the planet, still undercover as a Romulan named Ael. The mission had gone incredibly sideways. She was competent to assess potential biological and chemical threats which was their initial assignment. However, because she and Winters were the only two who had seen the seller of information, she was now on a mission she had not readily contemplated.
Once she was finally alone on the turbolift she tapped her communicator, "T'lenn to Lieutenant Williams. Do you have a moment?"
Down in shuttlebay two, Jason was going over the repair reports for his starfighters. During the short battle with the Atarans, a few of his birds had recieved mild to moderate damage. He was crawling out from under a Raptor, when his commbadge chirped. When he heard T'lenn's soft voice, he grinned as he tapped his commbadge. "For you, I have allowed eternity, sweetheart. What's up?"
"I am returning to continue my previous assignment in a few hours. I was unsure if your duty schedule would permit us some time together while I am on board," came her response over the comm.
Jason paused briefly, then replied. "Give me about fifteen minutes to finish up here, then I can meet you." He paused, then asked, "Where shall we meet?"
"I will be in my quarters. My appearance may be distracting to the crew," T'lenn replied.
"Alright," he responded. "I'll see you there. And I'm sure that you are just as beautiful as I know you to be, sweetheart."
While she waited for Jason to arrive, T'lenn changed out of her mission gear and into something of her own that was more comfortable and sat down in a chair to wait. The last few days had been intense, and now that she had a few minutes of comfort and safety, she could feel exhaustion coming over her. She had almost fallen asleep when Jason arrived.
As his bio signature had been added to her door sensor, Jason didn't pause to ring the chime. Instead, he walked right in, and paused, smiling softly as he looked over the woman who owned his heart. Even with the pronounced brow ridges, he thought she was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen.
Moving over to her side, he saw that she was dozing, so he knelt down in front of her and softly spoke. "T'lenn? Sweetheart?"
T'lenn, who had not quite fallen asleep, opened her eyes and reached out a hand to Jason. "You were able to get away. Hopefully this visit does not impact your duties too much."
He smiled warmly at her as his ocular implants seemed to focus on her eyes. "I've got a good team, so we're good, my love." He leaned up and in towards her, kissing her gently on her lips. A few beats later, he sat back and said, "I've missed you, sweetheart."
"And I you. Though I am certain that our brief time apart will only strengthen our bond with one another. Have I missed anything while I've been away?" She asked.
Shaking his head, Jason replied softly. "Nothing major." Hr paused a beat, then continued. "I did manage to get Rapter Seven fully repaired, so all of my birds are now ready for any call from the bridge."
"You have been productive," T'lenn said with approval. "What else?" She asked with interest.
He shook his head thoughtfully, with a soft grin. "Nothing much else, just counting the hours till I get to hold you in my arms again."
"I am finding Freecloud to be quite noisy," T'lenn admitted. "I am pleased to have a brief reprieve from the planet and from my fellow team members. While individually they are all pleasant, there has been some conflict."
A look of concern crossed his features. "What kind of conflict? Do you need to go to the XO or CO about it?!"
"I do not believe so. Commander Winters is rather... talkative. While Lieutenant Cyn is more cautious with out surroundings. Lieutenant Cyn does not mince words when she feels protocol has been breached."
He thought for a moment, then asked, "Remind me...is Cyn the Intel Department Head?"
"Correct. Yes she is," T'lenn confirmed.
He nodded thoughtfully as he responded. "That makes sense then. I've known a few Intel types. They were all very by-the-book people."
"What would you like to do with the few hours that we have?" T'lenn asked. "I'm not sure how long the next leg of the mission will be. If we have quick success then it should not be long."
He thought about it for a moment, then suggested, "We could have some dinner, maybe start planning our wedding ceremony?"
"That is agreeable," T'lenn stated standing up and offering Jason a hand. "Do you have thoughts already about the ceremony?" She asked.
Jason took the offered hand and stood. He then reached out and pulled T'lenn in for a loving embrace. They stayed there for a few seconds, then he released his hold, giving her a soft grin as he replied. "Well, I thought it would be appropriate if we incorporated traditions of both of our species into it."
"Interesting," T'lenn commented. She did not know if her parents would be agreeable to that or if they would persist in requesting a separate ceremony. Regardless, Jason's proposal was logical. "Which traditions would you like to incorporate and preserve?" She asked.
He had to think about that for a moment. Then, he replied. "Well, for starters, the exchange of wedding rings." He paused, then asked, "Your turn. What's something that you'd like to incorporate and preserve?"
"The final ceremony is not lengthy. The bride and groom speak a specific oath to one another, drink from a shared cup, and are bonded through a guided mind meld," T'lenn explained. "Much of the Vulcan rituals of marriage take place in the weeks and months leading up to the ceremony. Some of which may not be appropriate given that your family is Human."
"T, this is going to be our wedding, where we officially start our life together as husband and wife. I want to recognize and respect all of your traditions, just like you want to do the same for me."
T'lenn angled her head toward Jason as she gave him an understanding look. "Your sentiment is noted. However, I am hopeful that once you have met my parents that they will be agreeable to hosting a dinner with your family that is less formal than a V'shal."
Jason nodded thoughtfully. "That would be ideal, as your groom and future in-laws are fully human, and as such, unable to perform the son/mother mind meld." He grinned slightly, then considered something, before adding, "Of course, should your parents require some kind of inclusion of that part of the ceremony, I'd be willing to have your mother do the meld with me."
T'lenn shook her head. "No, I do not think that would make for a pleasing ceremonial dinner. I would prefer to talk to my family about an acceptable alternative that everyone can participate in fully."
She took a step back to look at Jason more fully. "I look forward to taking you to Vulcan. However, right now our time is limited before I leave again. Kiss me."
He smiled lovingly as he replied. "Yes, Ma'am!" He then stepped closer, wrapped his arms around her, and kissed her deeply, and passionately.
T'lenn closed her eyes and relaxed into his arms, appreciating the warmth of his touch - not just in this moment, but the warmth that he had brought to her life.
