New Science Officer, Meeting the Chief

"And here is where you will be doing a good portion of your work." As he spoke. He led her inside the main science compartment. As he looked around, he caught sight of the Chief Science Officer. "Ah, and here is your department head." He smiled as he addressed the senior science officer. "Lieutenant Capulet, allow me to introduce the newest member of your team, Ensign Awidat.

Chrys had been waiting outside her office having heard the new ensign was on their way.

Awidat looked at the Chief and calmly stated "Sochya eh-dif", while making the Vulcan salute. "Ensign Awidat reporting for duty."

Chrys smiled and took the initiative to wave the Ensign and Commander into her office. "Please have a seat Ensign" She said with a wave of her hand. She then glanced at Maxun "You are welcome to stay if you wish Commander?"

Maxun shook his head and smiled to Chrysanthe. "Thanks, Lieutenant, but I've got some other administrative duties to attend to." Glancing back at Awidat, he said, "Lieutenant Capulet is a fine officer and leader. Keep your eyes and ears open, and you'll learn much from her." He then gave Chrysanthe another look, before turning and left her office.

'Interesting', she thought. This was familiar, but she didn't entertain that thought. Awidat walked in and sat down.

Once the Ensign was seated, Chrysanthe sat down as well. "So, welcome to the Astrea, I hope you will enjoy your time here. What is your area of speciality?"

Awidat handed her a PADD with her personal information. "Xenobiology, Ma'am. I am also capable in other fields if necessary."

"And what in Xenobiology are you looking to research?" Chrys asked.

"I am currently researching in the area of Venomics with a wide range of federation-space animals. I do have other papers on Genetics and Biochemistry, both cited on my PADD", She responded. Awidat was curious to look into other projects she might encounter in this lab, but the oportune time to ask would arrive.

Chrys nodded and said "Well I will make sure you are on away missions where possible in regards to your studies. As it may give you a chance to see more animals out there."
