Training Exercises

Kas stood at the beginning of one of the greatest parkour courses he ever ran. It was a perfect recreation warehouse district of the capital of Bracas V. The only deviation was this park area with pull-up bars and obstacles for warm-ups and instructions. The Hybrid smiled remembering his time running the mile through over and around countless obstacles being chased by angry dockworkers and law enforcement officers. Eventually the Federation had stepped in and negotiated a treaty allowing them to set up an official annual race through an area with checkpoints and judges. It improved relations with the locals, but he missed the oriental concept. They were going to do the sanctioned course, even with safeties on that program caused to many injuries for novices.
Kas was wearing a tight-fitting sleeveless top and shorts, the intricate tattoos that covered his arms, neck, and shoulders were on full display. Kas began his warm-up routine with a series of stretches followed by muscle ups and handstands. Many people were surprised by the large Hybrid’s agility. He required all of his pilots to have at least a rudimentary knowledge of parkour to improve their reflexes and spatial awareness. He had put out an open invitation for the crew to join his parkour. Kas hopped down from the pull-up bar and moved into a handstand.
The holodeck doors slid open, the large Caitian entered the holodeck in an Academy Hoodie and track pants. Stretching as he enters, he smirks at Raz.
"You called for a challange?"
He spoke confidently in a low husky purr.
Jason entered right behind the Security Chief, a polite grin on his face. "Challenge? I thought we were here to have fun, Sir?"
"Fun, yes, but we should always be challenging ourselves. One simply does not improve by merely having fun."
Clay smiles as he finishes his warm up.
Cha'joga had come dressed for the occasion. She'd swapped her uniform for a tank top, shorts and boots - attire that would let her move swiftly through the urbanized setting of the simulation. "I hear that tonight's program shall be intense!" She declared as she entered behind the large Caitian male.
Kash looked around the park to see who had gathered as he walked in to take a position. New boss calls for a parkour workout on the holodeck, Kash felt it was important to make sure he was there. He was wearing a black Astrea t-shirt that unintentionally showed off his biceps, and a pair of longer shorts that were fitted so as to not get in the way of the workout. Given that there weren't many Andorians on board, he was generally prepared that most workout conditions were going to be uncomfortably warm.
Kas smiled looking up at the officers who'd stepped onto the deck. He dropped his feet bending backward into a full-body bridge before returning to a standing position. "Safety first I'll give twenty minutes warm-up and familiarize yourself with the course."
Jason nodded as he listened. He then started to stretch as he looked over the course, his ocular implants changing slightly to give him a better view in the various light and shadows. "I'll admit, I haven't done much parkour before, but I light physical activities. Maybe next get-together, we could do some Orbital skydiving?"
"Orbital skydiving, I'm good for that," Kash responded. He began to shift his weight on the balls of his feet getting loose for the exercise.
Eirly came in at a fast pace, not wanting to have missed anything before she got there. Slightly out of breath, she said, "I'm sorry I'm late, just got held up with a couple of things." Her chosen attire for the activity was form-fitting tights, non-slip trainers, a long sleeved shirt that showed the midriff, and a pair of fingerless gloves to protect her hands. She had also opted for her hair to be back into her usual double braids.
“This area is a dense urban industrial area that has been on Bracas V for hundreds of years; many have run a parkour race through this area every year.” Kas explained, “The first half of the course is uphill, it’s a steep incline. The second half has a lot of tall obstacles to navigate.”
"Uphill, and tall obstacles. Didn't want to break us in nice and slow, did ya boss?" Kash quipped. He started focusing on his hamstrings, quads, glutes... He was in shape, but it was a brutal course for a bipedal. He eyed the Caitian warily.
Kas chuckled, "There are three ways through the course. The less difficult paths will cost you time. Anyone trying to approach the record time will have to go through the more difficult path. Leave your egos at the door even with the safeties on I've seen some people get hurt.
"Come on, a little bit of healthy competition never hurt anyone though, did it?" Eirly grinned as she directed the question to both Kaz and Kash while doing her own stretches. She realised at the same time that she was definitely at a bit of a height disadvantage when it came to tackling the taller obstacles compared to everyone else, except for maybe Williams, but that wouldn't deter her too much.
"No need to bust a record for me tonight - I'm just glad to be here!" Cha'joga said with a sharp-toothed grin mid stretch. "I'll go with the easy route for now."
"As this is just for fun, I think I'll do the same, Jason said as he continued his stretches. "After all, it's different if one already knows the paths to take."
Kash snickered. "I don't like to commit myself too far in advance. I'll decide as we go along," he said somewhat smugly.
Jason looked at the young Ensign, his ocular implants adjusting noticeably. "Careful, Kash," he said with a grin. "When you talk like that, your body gives all kind of different signals.
Kash's antennae moved slightly toward Jason, as Kash listened to his retort. "Careful there, L-T, you aren't the only one who can sense when someone is giving off signals," he fired back.
Jason grinned and gave Kash a little bow. "Touché."
“I'll give a bottle of Yirdian Brandy to anyone who can beat my time," Kas told the group.
“He must not be as confident last time he offered a bottle of 2350 Blood Wine.” A woman said as she stepped onto the deck.
“Or I'm considering the palettes of the young officers, Isabella.” Kas smiled. I don't believe Captain Johnson would appreciate me giving hard liquor to my subordinates.”
Jason looked to his left and right. "And here I thought I was in charge of my own department." He then chuckled softly. "And I actually prefer the 2300 vintage. I actually still have a couple bottles, in case anyone wants a taste."
“Sorry I'm late,” Bella smiled. “I was helping your daughter with her homework.”
“You have time to stretch and warm up. It's fine.”
Clay bounced on his feet, shadow boxing a bit to stretch out his limbs. At his age, he needs a little more time to warm up, not that he is an old man, but it's good practice none the less.
Kas sprinted toward a park bench and a perfect kong-vault landing near Clay, the Hybrid looked up at the man. “You would need combat skill for this version of the course.”
"Combat Skills? Will we be engaging hostiles? Is it like that Old Earth game: Assassin's Creed? Ooooo OOOOO...Can I wear a Hidden Blade?" Clay asked Kas animatedly.
Kas laughed, “In my youth my friend and I used to run a race through here without the permission of the locals. They would sick their guard canines and their security personnel would pursue us. We were hooligans!”
Bella Walked over to Kash and Cha'joga, “The flight department should stick together. Follow me I’ll get us through."
"I'm game for that," Kash said. "Sounds fun."
"Sounds good to me." Cha'joga decided. "Maybe I should wear some gloves. Better to punch people with that way." She was merely joking, of course, and the wide, toothy smile that erupted across her face was definitely a sign.
"So what, you're just gonna leave me by myself then, huh?" Eirly said to Cha'joga with a laugh before walking over to Clay and continuing to stretch, "Don't worry though, I think we've got the advantage here," she gave Cha'joga a wink, "Aye boss man?"
"Aye! Our skill sets will set us apart, L.T, and with the spirit of the Colonel in our hearts, we can do anything!" Clay beamed at the two.
Eirly looked back up at him with appreciation and then looked to the rest gathered around, "Let's get this thing started!" She was pumped for the course, even though she'd probably take the easier course.
Kas put on a pair of goggles and began handing goggles to everyone, “these goggles have a HUD display to track your progress and give your directions. they have an earpiece as well if you wish to communicate with others or receive verbal directions.”
Jason took the goggles and slipped them on, activating them as he did so. "Cool! Thanks."
Kash took his goggles and walked near Cha'joga and Bella as he put them on. "Alright guys, we ready to have some fun out there?"
"Ready!" Cha'joga winked at Eirly and turned her back to her as she put on her goggles. "So long as I don't fall off a building and break all my bones I'll be happy."
"Come now Klingon bones are stronger and more abundant than humans you and Kas have an advantage in that department." Bela laughed.
"I would argue that that's not necessarily true - but think what you want, cutie, I won't mind." Cha'joga winked back at her.
