Mission: Gone, Without Ever Knowing the Way

The doors to the ship's med bay slid open as in stepped two of the ship's newest arrivals. The betazoid and the Vulcan had smiles on their faces ready to get started on another section of their careers and lives as well as their family. It felt good for their small odd family unit to be nearly back together again. Xalanth was of course spoiling his girls who were overjoyed to be back with their father.

Seeing their new boss the two of them walked over. " Ma'am lieutenant T'para and Leilani reporting for duty," T'para said as the two of them saluted and stood to attention.

Jezra turned when they heard company, spotting the two officers as they stood straight. "At ease. Please," they answered, gesturing with their free hand for the two to relax. In her hand were some samples from work she had brought over from the Venture, a couple of vials and a PADD on a nearby counter. "Glad to have you aboard! Tell me more about yourselves!"

"Of course. " T'para replied. " I don't know where I was born. Me and my twin sister were abandoned on earth and raised in an orphanage. I joined the academy when I was old enough. I chose medical I'd always wanted to be a doctor. At the academy, i met Leilani and we both met our future husband. We've tried to be together ever since. " The hybrid explained.

" I grew up with my parents. My dad's a federation ambassador, mother is a dutchess from Betazed. I mostly grew up on my dad's various postings across the federation. Joined the academy when I was old enough, met T'para and Xalanth and it's been as smooth sailing as a fleet family can be." Leilani added.

The Trill nodded thoughtfully as they took in the pair. It was odd seeing a Vulcan be so expressive, but who was she to judge? It was then that the 'we both met our future husband' bit suddenly kicked in. "Both of you are married to Lieutenant Xalanth?" they asked curiously.

The two of them nodded. " Yup. Us, Zola, Fulvia and Xalanth. I know it's an odd family choice but we wouldn't have it any other way." T'para replied with a smile and a happy glance at Leilani which the Betazoid returned. " As for my emotions which i can see you're curious about I was raised on earth. Never knew my parents." She explained.

Jezra gave a slight smile in return. "I hope you'll forgive my surprise," she explained with a faint chuckle. "Shall I show you two around?"

" It's fine we get the reaction rather regularly and yes thank you we would like to see the facilities. " Leilani replied with a warm smile her betazoid black eyes blinking as she did so.

With a nod, the Trill began the tour. "The main sickbay area has its standard sterile field setup," they said, gesturing to the giant circle above one of the beds. "Main office is to the left, I'd only shut the door for important meetings so you are welcome to walk in if you need anything or just to chat." Leading the way, Jezra went to an area behind the sickbay beds, where the research primarily happened. "There are some private rooms to the right, and straight back is the inventory. And just over here," she tapped on a wall panel to open a door, revealing a very sterile lab-like room. "... is the research area. Tests to be run, biomedical exams of weird organic matter we run into... it happens here."

" Very impressive," T'para replied. " Looks like we have everything we could need here. Our last ship board posting medical bay wouldn't even fit in the research area. "

Jezra gave an understanding look. As one who had served on small vessels before, she knew that feeling all too well. "I think it's the right size. Plenty of space without becoming overwhelming."

" Does the counselling department have it's own section? " Asked Leilani

Jezra gave a nod, motioning for the two to follow. "Just next door. It's on the smaller side, but I've seen ships where the counseling department is basically a closet by comparison. They are separated by the medical research lab." Exiting sickbay, they went two doors down before entering into another room.

The space was about the size of a set of quarters. A central reception area welcomed them with comfortable seating, some minimalist decor, and a soft ambience that was noticeably different from the sterile light of the corridor. To the right was the business office, which looked similar to the CMO office but mirrored; a window overseeing the main space that could be made opaque for privacy, a desk and chairs, some wall displays to look at information, a replicator, and some decorative Starfleet-issued plant in the corner. To the left were the privacy rooms, similar in basic concept to the private medical rooms with the exception of comfortable furniture replacing a medical bed and equipment.

" Looks like we'll have everything we need to deal with any medical emergency the universe can throw at us." T'para added as she looked around the room. " I believe the mortuary and cryo bay are this way?" she added guessing from the layout of the medical bay.

With a nod, Jezra again led the way. "You are correct. I can only hope that we do not use it often." The door slid open for them, and the group entered. In the middle of the room was an examination table reserved for autopsies, and along the walls were circular doors for the stasis chambers to preserve bodies. Even though the Trill hadn't used the space yet, there was a heavy feeling in her gut upon entering the room.

" Here's hoping we won't be needing them. " T'para said as she examined the room. Everything was state of the art, just like it should be.

" Thank you for the tour doctor. " Lelani added a smile on her face. " is there anything else we need to see or should we get started?"

"I don't believe so, but if you have any questions then you know where my office is," Jezra answered with a smile.

" Thank you." T'para replied with a smile upon her hybrid face.

" I'll start moving my things into my office. " Lelani added her betazoid features, showing her own happiness.
