Mission: Mission Interlude Starbase 76 & Serenity
Location: Main Cargo Bay
Timeline: MD 9, 0830 Hours

Remy sat anxiously in her dress uniform behind Admiral Downing on the small stage that had been erected in the main cargo bay on the USS Astrea. She was ready to get the ceremony over with and back to work, and would have much preferred that this have been done quietly in the Admiral's office, or even on the Bridge, without so many in attendance. Nash and a few others had pushed for letting the crew be a part of it, giving what everyone had gone through in such a short amount of time - and they weren't wrong. Remy hadn't expected the crew to rally around and support an 'acting captain' in command of an active mission the way that they had. But they did, and then some.

She'd asked the Admiral to keep it short, but people were still trickling in, so she hadn't started yet. Remy scanned the crowd for familiar faces. They were all familiar, but there were a few that she was expecting.

Commander Winters knew that his family wanted to be part of the promotion ceremony, so it was only fitting that he brought them along. He sat with Lt. Andersen on his left and Lt. Mundy three seats down to his right, next to his daughter Alexandra. Nash really disliked the dress uniform. It was too form-fitting and….itchy. He couldn’t stop scratching, especially his shoulders and the back of his neck. Meanwhile, he introduced the new arrival Andersen to his family and was excited to tell her about his history with now Captain Johansen.

“The Captain and I have known each other for awhile, serving together on a couple different occasions,” Nash told Eirly. “I’m happy for her, and proud. It’s about time she got her own command.”

Sara leaned over Nash to give a proper greeting. "Welcome aboard. I'm sure we'll be seeing more of you."

Alex just popped her hand up in a brief wave. "Hi."

"It's a pleasure to meet you both," Eirly said with a genuine smile to both Sara and Alex before turning back to Nash, "I noticed that you and the Captain were quite familiar when we took that tour of the ship. It's always an honour to be present at a promotion ceremony." She too was starting to feel the uncomfortableness of the uniform, but that's because there was a tag she couldn't reach that was digging into her side.

“It certainly is,” replied Nash. “I wanted Alexandra to see it along with the honor and pageantry of it all. This kind of thing doesn’t happen every day.”

Eirly nodded in understanding and smiled at Alexandra, "I agree, it doesn't happen every day. I've been to a couple of promotion ceremonies, but this is definitely something else. I guarantee you'll enjoy today!"

TAG Nash (if you want it)

Jason entered the decorated cargo bay, and looked around. While there were some familiar faces in the throng, he had yet to really meet the rest of the crew. Moving forward, he took a seat near the front of the audience area.

Samuel entered next, carrying a few crates into the cargo bay. He had volunteered his services as caterer.

T'lenn walked in with a group of science officers who had just left the Stellar Cartography lab, the group went to take seats in the back, but she saw Jason walking toward the front to take a seat, so she continued toward the front.

She walked toward Jason, her hair pulled back tightly into a french twist and she had worn her dress uniform though many on her shift had simply worn their duty uniform. "Is this seat taken?" she asked.

Hearing T'lenn's voice, Jason smiled and stood up. "It is now." He indicated she should sit. He then sat back down in his seat next to her. "You look nice in your dress uniform," he whispered to her.

"It seemed appropriate to pay respect for the occasion," T'lenn responded.

Jason nodded. He too had decided to wear his dress uniform as well, complete with his various awards, which showed he had seen a lot of combat in his short career.

T'lenn sat next to Jason, her attention fixated on the stage, where the event was close to beginning.

Nevan had made sure his dress uniform was nice and clean, his rank had been polished and he looked sharp with a fresh haircut. He entered into the cargo bay next seeing fit to represent his department considering his two juniors were currently on the Serenity. The Betazoid found a seat towards the front and made himself comfortable.

Ensign Kash th'Kaasnik saw a few seats near the front and went to see if they were open. He approached an open seat between Officer Kayto and Lieutenant T'lenn, "Is this an open seat?" The Andorian asked.

The Civil Ops Chief gave a nod "Of course, it's just me here for my team. I don't believe we've been introduced. I'm Petty Officer Kayto. I'm in charge of the Civil Operations team."

"Nor am I expecting anyone," T'lenn responded. "You may call me T'lenn."

"Kash th'Kaasnik, flight control officer, support pilot, whatever the shuttle bay needs really. Everyone calls me Kash," the officer replied.

"Ah, it looks like I'll be working with you to make sure the Winfield is well taken care of. Sure she's a bit old but I'm excited for the first mission I and my team get to take her out. Nothing quite like an old school runabout" Nevan replied.

"She stood out for sure. We off-loaded all of our other Danube's when she came in, then I took a look inside," Kash stated. "That is quite the refit on the interior. I never would have have thought you could do so much with the interior of a runabout. We'll make sure to take special care of her."

"That sounds great." Nevan answered. "I'm looking forward to seeing the Captain promoted, she's had a tough go at it with her first mission and I think she'll settle in just fine personally."

"We were happy to hear she was getting the shift in flight control. The Captain seems personable," Kash noted. "She's been through the shuttle bay a few times, and always acknowledges everyone that's on shift."

Sitting in his dress uniform, with all the medals and ribbons he had received, Mundy was still on the job. He had placed security officers throughout the venue, to insure that all assembled would be safe. He maintained visual contact with his number 2. Occasionally he would tap his ear to speak to his people.

It'd been a while since Thivi had worn her dress uniform - heck, she wasn't even sure if it still fit her when she'd fitst taken it out of her closet for the evening. Lo and behold, though, she was glad to find that it still fit her like a glove. She strode confidently into the cargo bay and sat down next to Mundy. "It must be quite stressful, running security for this event." She said to him. "Everything must run in tip-top order - especially since admiral Downing is in attendance..."

Mundy noticed when she sat next to him, but his mind was on his duty. "The admiral travels with his own security detail, so my detail is coordinating with his."

"It's still pretty stressful isn't it? It's admiral Downing!" Thivi added. "I bet her people aren't that easy to work with."

"From what I hear," Mundy kept his eyes moving, looking for potential threats, "the admiral may be hard to work for, but her security staff are more than happy to have help."

"That's good to hear. Speaking of." Thivi leaned in closer. "Not that I doubt your ability - but why are you running security instead of lieutenant Guevera or her assistant head of department?"

"As Operations chief, I often assist security in their duties." Mundy responded, eyes always looking for trouble.

"Well, that's to be expected, I suppose! You haven't seen any threats yet, have you? I doubt they're easy to find, even if there are any." Thivi remarked. She had a quick glance around the room herself; she'd always considered her danger sense to be keen enough, and so far she couldn't see anyone acting out of turn.

"Threats usually show up if no one looks out for them." Mundy looked around the room. "I would be happy to simply just sit and enjoy the ceremonies."

"That's correct, but maybe you should be focusing a bit more on enjoying the ceremony? You seem a bit on edge, even for someone running security." Thivi commented. "Relax. Being hypervigilant won't help you, you know,"

"This is not the first time I've seen a change of command ceremony. While it is inspiring, some things take precedent." Mundy went back to scanning the room.

Thivi shook her head and kept quiet. If he wanted to fuss over it, so be it.

Dr. Ta'Feel Anith and Cadet Sr Nallee Anith entered the cargo bay, stopped for a moment to look around, then proceeded to walk over toward the little group of people that seemed to be the main focus of this ceremony. Once they arrived, Dr. Ta'Feel spoke for Hirself and Cadet Nallee. "Dr. Ta'Feel and Cadet Nallee greet Commander Johansen." "Dr. Ta'Feel and Cadet Nallee greet Admiral Downing." This continued for each of the crew that was standing in the cluster.

Kas entered the room with his daughter in tow, the large Hybrid was wearing his dress uniform, he'd also fastened an emerald sash around his waist to signify his clan and a black leather headband with an emerald gem in its center. In the custom of his people. Keena took his hand she was wearing a green dress, Kas had arranged her hair in two rope braids and fastened them with ornaments that had been her mother's. She had insisted on wearing a headband like her papa's. They took their seats quietly.
