"A bit of a mess gives it character, doesn't it?" Malcolm asked. Inside the privacy of the turbolift Malcolm resisted the urge to kiss her right there. But he also didn't know what was taking him so long. The two had been spending time together for a few hours already.
=================
There was a bit of idle talking, subtle glances and the overwhelming, intense amount of desire between the two of them during the short ride up to the requested deck. When the turbolift stopped on deck six, they stepped out and Eirly turned to Malcolm and walked backwards for a few moments as she said to him, "Like I said, there's a little bit of mess, but nothing to worry about."
Once they got to her quarters, Eirly swiped over the lock for the doors to open and stepped in, revealing her quarters. The aesthetic was neutral with wooden textures throughout and green accents like pictures, multiple plants and even a woolen throw on her bed. The bed itself was lower to the ground with a wooden base and matching headboard, with multiple green patterned and white pillows covering the top and a light brown and white duvet to match. A woven mat brought the whole look together. A small bookcase held some books, family pictures and trophies on it in one corner next to the bedside table. Over on the other side of the quarters was a small but comfortable lounge with a coffee table that matched the bed, and some more plants to bring in the nature.
"So, this is me." Eirly said sheepishly and shrugged. "It's the little bit of home that I've brought with me."
"It is homey, comfy," Malcolm said admiring the space. "Someone must have come by and cleaned up the mess while we were out."
Eirly raised an eyebrow as she walked in and placed the bags of pastries on the coffee table and then went over to her bed to straighten out the duvet and smooth it all over before fluffing back up the pillows, "I can assure you, no one has been in here..." She then picked up the couple of socks and other clothing and put them in the little hamper, "It's still a bit of a mess. Please, make yourself comfy. Grab a drink, whatever you want."
Malcolm walked over to the replicator. "What do you like to drink with your pastries? Tea? Milk?"
"A white hot chocolate with marshmallows would be good please." She set about getting a couple of plates and serviettes and fork from the little cupboard available and setting them on the coffee table next to the pastries before walking past him and putting her hands on his shoulders briefly and saying, "I'm just going to get into some comfy clothes, I'll be back in a minute" then walking off to get some clothes out of her drawers and disappearing into the bathroom.
Malcolm tried to not let his imagination run too wild about what 'comfy clothes' meant as he ordered Eirly's white hot chocolate with marshmallows, and himself a mint tea with a splash of milk from the replicator.
A few minutes later, Eirly walked out wearing a loose fitting pair of white embroidered dark blue satin shorts and a matching white singlet and slippers. The shorts were long enough that they still managed to cover all the important parts but short enough that they showed off her legs. "Ah, peak comfort. I hope you approve?" She did a little twirl for him.
Malcolm tried to not look caught off guard when Eirly stepped out wearing silky shorts and a white top. When she did the twirl for him, it was almost too much. Malcolm nodded almost dumbfounded for a beat. "You look beautiful," he said captivated by her body. "I hope you aren't cold. One white hot chocolate with marshmallows," he said, offering her the cup, not sure what else to do with his hands.
"Thank you," she took the hot chocolate from him and sat down, a smug smile forming across her lips as she did so, knowing that she had just temporarily rendered him speechless, "I'm actually quite warm at the moment, and I've grown up to not feel the cold as much. Danish, remember? And plus, you should appreciate the cold too, being Scottish and all?"
"Aye, I suppose I've become a little soft, living on starships and all," Malcolm responded, his eyes following her as she sat down. "You do look amazing. I'm sorry for staring."
Eirly waived the apology off, "Hej, don't be sorry for that. I would've said something ages ago if I really cared." She was sitting on the floor with her back to the lounge and reached over to pick up one of the pastries that looked to be filled with some sort of custard and took a bite, instantly falling in love with food all over again, "This is amazing. You should try it. I don't actually mind the attention, by the way, it's a nice change."
"A nice change from what?" Malcolm asked, taking the pastry from her and biting into it.
"Mostly being the wallflower." Eirly admitted as she finished the mouthful of food she had and stretched out her legs, "My brother was always the showy one who was and is the center of attention, whereas I don't stand out much. Go figure."
"I find that hard to believe," Malcolm said handing the pastry back. "Ages ago you said? I was that obvious, huh?"
"Maybe just a little," She giggled in response. "I'll admit right here and now that I may have been checking you out too... And I picked up on a few very subtle hints,"
"As long as you're willing to humor me by suggesting they were subtle." Malcolm moved from the lounge to the floor so that he could sit next to Eirly. "Why are you down here?" He asked once he was sitting by her side.
"I have no idea, comfort? Habit? Who knows, but somehow it got you down here as well." She picked up the hot chocolate and took a drink from it while still watching him. Then she smiled: it tasted like the ones she would make at home.
"With all due respect to the floor... I think it was you that brought me down here," Malcolm responded as he reached for another pastry, then glanced back to watch her reaction.
"Oh, that was all your doing." She raised an eyebrow and grinned as she too grabbed another pastry. "Not my fault there's an undeniable attraction here." Then she sat back down, still with a smirk, "How's your tea?"
"The tea is good. A late night habit of mine. Not always with the milk, but it seemed to go with the pastries a wee bit better," Malcolm said putting the pastry he had just picked up back down.
He turned to face Eirly and let the first few fingers of his right hand trace the back of her left hand. "I think the first pastry was my favorite though," he said though by the way he was looking at her, he was thinking about more than pastries.
A shiver ran down her spine at the touch, but it wasn't a bad thing. In fact, it made her want more and for her to know what that touch would be like as they were laying in bed after... you know.
"You're playing a dangerous game here, Mr Beckett." She said quietly with a bit of a challenge and flirtiness to her voice, biting her bottom lip again as she first looked at his hand tracing patterns on her own and then brought her gaze up to meet his insanely blue eyes. Were they always that intense?!
"Dangerous?" Malcolm whispered as he leaned in closer to Eirly. With his left hand he brushed an imaginary strand of loose hair away from her face. "I don't think I've ever been accused of being dangerous before." he added as his hand dropped to the little nook underneath Eirly's ear that reaches to the base of her neck. He looked at her eyes one last time before brushing his lips against hers.
Eirly's breath caught as she leaned into the kiss and closed her eyes. She dropped the pastry and moved so her arms were wrapped around behind his neck and she was sitting on top of him, her knees either side of his legs, while still maintaining the kiss.
Eventually she broke the kiss and looked at him with a smile, and said in a light and breathless tone, "Took you long enough" before kissing him again.
Malcolm moved his right hand into the small of Eirly's back as he pulled her closer into him, kissing her now with more intensity, his left hand moving to gently cradle the back of her head before settling on her shoulder blades. He was still holding back, not wanting to push things too quickly, but Eirly's current position of straddling him with her knees wasn't make that easy.
"I didn't want to scare you off, we only just met," Malcolm whispered when he pulled away to take a quick breath. He looked down at her chest, and traced her collarbone with his fingers before his hand moved to caress her bare thigh. He looked back up at her face for approval, wanting to make sure he wasn't taking things too far.
Eirly gave a small nod of approval to indicate she was comfortable with the placement of his hands, wherever they may have been, "It'll take more than that to scare me off." her own voice was just above a whisper too and she continued to grin. She suddenly wished for him to pick her up, take her to bed and they continue on til the morning, but she wasn't going to let him know that, not yet.
Malcolm adjusted his weight and let his right hand continue to wander up Eirly's leg, his left hand caressing her back and pulling her toward him as he leaned forward even more kissing her more deeply, first on her lips, then moving to her neck. He pulled back and looked her in the eyes, "Do you want to keep going, or should we slow down?"
Eirly moaned softly as he was kissing her neck and the sudden pulling away of it brought her back to reality for just a moment so she could look at him too and he would've been able to see there was a light flush of red on her cheeks from the heat between them. In reply she simply shook her head slightly with a soft smile and barely above a whisper said, "Take me to bed, and stay."
Malcolm shifted his weight so that he could stand up from the floor, taking her hands and helping her up before scooping her into his arms. "As you wish."
She giggled in response as he took her to bed...
