Mission: Training Exercises
Location: Holodeck
Timeline: MD Alpha

The dock was a good 7.5 meters away from the barge, but the Kash and Jason attempted to close some of the distance by giving the next runners a halfway point with a lifeboat. Once the lifeboat was in place off of the barge for the other runners to use, Jason stood ready to resume the race. However, to be fair, he was waiting or Kash to get ready and say go. It was the honorable thing to do.

Kash was still watching for the other runners, not wanting to win because someone couldn't handle the obstacle. It wasn't just a long jump, the obstacle was a river. Granted, it was a holodeck, and the water probably wasn't that deep, but Kash was operating on principle now more than anything. The two Caitians were long gone in the race by now - the obstacles were obviously easier for them with their physiology. Kash hoped they had a good run for it against one another at the end.

This jump was a long one, and Kash knew he was slightly more agile than most humans, and Jason was one of most fit humans he'd been around. Given the objects laying around, it almost seemed meant to be a team building part of the course.

Kas cursed at the site of the water this part of the track had always been hard he didn't like large bodies of water, and he'd barely passed the swimming portion of the Academy's survival course. He saw that Bella had made her way onto the Barge. Bella turned and saw Kas on the bank, he shook his head and smiled.

"C'mon Kas, use the lifeboat as a midway point and it's two easy jumps. You can clear those easy," Kash called out. "We're right here for ya, man."

"Yeah, Kas!" Jason echoed. "Even though this is a race, we all finish it. So move your butt and get over here!"

As a kid, Eirly had been skating on a lake with some thin ice with her brothers and had fallen through into the freezing cold water so she was kind of hesitant to go jumping onto barges, but she remembered this was only a holodeck and nothing traumatizing could come out of it again. Pushing those thoughts out of her mind, she jumped across the water, her feet landing on the side of the barge and balancing for a moment before they slipped back into the water briefly on the second one, and she caught up with Kash and Jason.

Noticing that Kas was still being hesitant, she walked up next to Jason and Kash and turned to where he was, "Come on Kas, like Jason said: we all finish it. You've got this!"

Kas took about three steps back and broke into a run launched through the air over the lifeboat and onto the barge. His toes barely hit the edge of the boat and he would have fallen into the water, but he had enough forward momentum that he was able to use his center of gravity to fall forward, hitting the deck with his right knee and rolling to the side.

Once Kas was on the barge, Kash and Jason barely took time to look at one another before they were racing to the edge of the first barge, jumping nearly in unison over to the next one, neck and neck, Eirly and Kas right on their heels.

Once Kas made the final jump to the shore, he felt nauseous but pushed through. Bella looked the Hybrid in the eye and sighed You okay?

Kas nodded and he leaned on the dock... "Gods!" He thought. The last time he'd done this course he'd been with Rahl she'd coaxed him through it. What would she say if she could see him now?

Kash yelled out a 'good job,' but didn't stop to check on the Klingon hybrid, he quickly began scrambling up the bank, rocks and sand loose under his feet making it hard to get a good foothold.

When Jason made the leap down to the shore, his footing slipped, and he faceplanted onto the rocks, busting his nose and his upper lip. However, instead of stopping to deal with the pain blossoming across his face, he picked himself up and scurried after Kash, having lost some ground in the fall.

Eirly followed Jason and Kash, yet again, and watched as Jason broke himself. She narrowly avoided a similar fate to him but landed on the sand at an awkward angle with her right wrist underneath her and the instant feeling of pain flared up in it. It also didn't help that the sand went everywhere: her hair, down her shirt, in her socks and shoes. By the Gods, it was going to be uncomfortable until this was over.

Jason heard a body fall behind him and turned, seeing Eirly down. Hurrying back to her, he helped her to her feet. "You okay?" He asked, a concerned look on his face as the artificial retinas of his ocular implants focused on her face some.

"Yeah, I'm all good." Eirly replied with a nod as she held her wrist, "I think I look a lot better than you at the moment." She continued on with him toward the finish line, "Go and see Medical after this if you need to."

Kash slowed his step, "Maybe you should both see medical. Are the safeties broken?"

As the runners and sprinters made it to the finish, standing there, without a breath lost, was the hulking Caitian major. Standing with his arms crossed over his chest and a big goofy grin on his face as he saw them coming for the finish.

"Well...what kept y'all" He asked playfully.

Jason was bringing up the rear, ensuring the rest of the group finished the course. "I was just ensuring my wingmen were okay, Sir. We never leave our own behind."

Kash shook his head, bent over as he tried to catch his breath. "I don't know that we were evenly matched, Major" he said good-naturedly. He pushed himself up off of his knees so he was standing upright and gave Clay a pat on the shoulder. "Nice work."

Eirly came to a stop with everyone and she too had her hands on her knees and bent over trying to catch her breath a bit before standing upright again, "Well this has been fun."

Bella knelt next Eirly to make sure the woman was okay, she made a point not to look at Kas. She could tell something was bothering her friend but she didn't call attention to it. Kas came last for one of the one of first times ever Kas smiled at his crewmates and nodded with approval.

Kash took a deep breath and puffed out his cheeks before letting it out through his mouth. "I don't know that all of those obstacles were meant to be tackled alone. That was quite a challenge there, Kas. What do you say we all get cleaned up. The bleeders take a stop through sickbay, and we meet up in Ten-Forward for a drink in a couple hours? I'm buying."
