Seasonal & Holidays
Location: Holodeck 3
Timeline: MD Alpha, After First Arrivals
Malcolm walked into the holodeck Halloween party accompanied by Eirly and Kasper. Malcolm was having a hard time deciding what sort of costume to wear this year, so he landed on dressing as a knight, somewhat period appropriate to match Eirly's Snow Queen, give or take a hundred years or so.
Eirly had opted for dressing as the Snow Queen, a character from a fairytale based on the same name by one of her and Kasper's apparent ancestors, Hans Christian Andersen. Her dress was floor length and fitted to her curves, light silvery blue with an almost white snowflake pattern descending down, and her hair was elegantly styled loosely. She came onto the holodeck arm in arm with Malcolm and looked around at the decorations: whoever had done them had done an amazing job.
Kasper, however, had gone the route of being Jack Frost with dark pants that were cut off at the knee, a dark blue hoodie that had frost and snowflakes everywhere, a frosted staff... and he was barefoot to complete the outfit. His way of thinking was that it was a costume that would be comfortable enough to kick back in at the end of the day and suited him.
J.R had brought out his classic Jack Skellington costume, repleted with painted face, and a large bucket of Candy having come from entertaining the children at the Hayrides. His cousin, Clay, had gone all out. Halloween his one chance per year to nerd out in public. So he wore a complete set of Star Wars Jedi Armor, complete with a working lightsaber, courtesy of the Holodeck. White and guilded gold, brown cloak flowing down his back. A blend of Knightly armor and Jedi humility.
"We're all having fun?" J.R asked the assembled, handing out candy as he mingled.
"Just got here," Malcolm said. "What kind of candy you got in there." Malcolm shuffled around picking out a piece. He pulled out a handful and showed it to Eirly and Kasper offering them some.
Kasper took a couple of pieces and nodded his thanks before he walked off to try and find a drink and possibly see if Charlotte was on the deck already. Eirly just stared at her brother as he walked off and made a face before turning back to Malcolm and took a blue wrapped one and popped it in her mouth. It tasted like sour raspberry, and she scrunched up her face in response before laughing, "Wow, that was a sour one."
Malcolm laughed at the face Eirly was making. "Let's go get a drink to wash that down with, then?"
Eirly nodded and continued to chew on the lolly, eventually finishing it and vowing to not have another one.
Malcolm and Eirly weren't far behind Kasper when they made their way to the drink station. The place was starting to get busy, and the drink station was a popular spot. Jason and T'lenn were nearby in full costume, and Charlotte seemed to be deep in conversation with the exchange officer from Akadia.
"Kasper, anything good over here?" Malcolm asked. "The punch might be a little sweet," he said pointing out the various beverage dispensers on the table. "Do you want me to test them for you?" He offered.
Kasper put down the drink he'd just picked up, "I think this is the punch, and you're right: it's a little sweet. Otherwise, I have no clue what the other drinks taste like." He watched his sister with Malcolm and smiled at seeing her happy after so long. "Are you happy with him?" he asked Eirly with a grin.
Eirly shot Kasper a look and smiled softly at him, "I am," before turning back to Malcolm, "I'm pretty sure none of them should be spiked, but if you want to taste test, go for it." She appreciated him so much and found his chivalry to be her taste tester amusing.
As Jason and T'lenn moved about, he grabbed them both a couple drinks from one of the circulating waiters. Handing one of the frothy, smokey mugs to his fiancé, he raised his in a toast. "To our first holiday together, sweetheart!"
T'lenn raised her glass in response, "To our first holiday, and my first Halloween. This is an intriguing holiday."
After taking a sip if his drink, Jason replied, "Think this is something, you should see how my parents decorate the house for Christmas!" He chuckled softly.
"I have participated in Christmas celebrations at the Academy and at previous postings. Humans always seem to build up the holiday for several weeks and encourage others to participate," T'lenn shared.
He grinned, then responded. "There's a difference between celebrating the holiday on a starship or starbase, and doing so at a home. My parents go all out, with my mom fully decorating the inside of the house and cooking all the holiday favorites, while my dad decorates the outside of the house." He paused to take a breath, then asked, "Are there any holidays that you and your family observe?"
"There are days that are observed, yes. Nothing comparable to these Earth holidays," T'lenn stated shaking her head.
A few moments later, Samuel arrived, dressed as Hercules, as seen on a television show that was popular in the late 21st century. With his build, he filled out the costume quite nicely. Upon entering the holodeck, he looked for Remy, as they had agreed to meet here. She told him that her costume would be a surprise.
Captain Johansen joined the party after finishing up a scene along the hayride that was laid out for the children on the ship. She'd added some pieces to her costume before coming to the holodeck transforming from a witch into Little Red Hood. This Little Red Riding Hood didn't look like she could be tricked by a wolf though. On her arms Remy was wearing leather armor and carried a prop sword on her belt. Rather than a full skirt, her dress was more of a train that fell behind her fitted black pants, and of course she was wearing her black riding boots.
She held a hand up to Samuel until she noticed him make eye contact. She knew there were rumors about the two of them, but they had not really been out in public with their relationship yet either. It wasn't that Remy was hiding anything, she just wasn't advertising it either.
Remy gave Samuel an amused grin as she checked out his costume. "You had that just laying around didn't you?"
"What? This old thing? It may have been in the back of my closet, from my brief time as a stunt double for the show." He grinned as he revealed a bit more of his past to her. "But you, my my...you certainly are a vision of a very sexy version of Little Red Riding Hood. Almost makes me want to be a big bad wolf and try to gobble you up!"
"Little Red Riding Hood is all grown up now, and she would slay any wolf that tried to eat her now," Remy countered a mischievous look in hers. "We should mingle."
Smiling warmly, Samuel nodded, then turned and offered his left elbow to Remy. Together, they started to move about the collected crew. Word quickly spread that the rumors appeared to be true about the two of them. Many of those present also thought that they made a very handsome couple.
S'Niri was, honestly, fully expecting a few jaws to drop when she walked through the door. They did. The Ferasan hybrid was in a somewhat playful mood tonight, and so had donned an old outfit of hers for the occasion. The getup, comprising a sandy-colored sheer skirt (and the necessary other garments to maintain her modesty, of course!), a fitting top that left her smooth, furry belly bare, boots that left her paws bare and a pair of shoes, she sauntered confidently through the holodeck doors with her head held high. She'd been coy with Williams when he'd asked, very daringly, she'd add, what she'd be coming as. This was it. She would certainly have passed for some kind of barbarian from Earth popular culture, if not for the long, rapierlike empty scabbard tied to her waist.
She could afford to wait, though, because right now there was something else she wanted to attend to. S'Niri licked her lips as she prowled around in search of food. Surely there had to be some, right?
The food display was mostly appetizers and desserts, and included a wide variety of crackers and cheeses, fresh fruit, and several types of cookies. Someone had also brought a spread of chicken wings with sauces labeled from around the Alpha and Beta quadrants. As people continued to trickle in small groups were forming around the drinks and food tables, though no one had ventured upstairs to check out the haunted tour yet.
