Mission:
Shore Leave & Ship Repairs
Location: USS Astrea
Timeline: MD: -2 (Second Chances, MD 15)
Captain Johansen and Lt. Commander Spello exited the Ready Room after the two had an opportunity to debrief one another on their individual missions. Now that Johansen was back on board the Astrea they could stop stalling the rendezvous to transport the prisoners who still needed to stand trial. The next order of business, get the damn Ataran tech extricated from the warp nacelles.
The captain took her seat at the conn and opened a channel for a ship wide announcement. "Attention all hands, this is your Captain. I want to thank everyone on board Astrea for their courage and work over the last two days. No good deed goes unnoticed, and that is not just for the Starfleet crew, but to our civilian personnel and our families who are on board as well. All handled a difficult situation responsively."
"Unfortunately, we took some damage that will require a few days in space dock to repair fully. Tomorrow at 0600 hours we will set a course for the space station at Barisa Prime. Once there, Astrea will be operating a skeleton crew and shore leave will be permitted pending approval from department heads. That is all."
Remy cut the transmission and turned to her first officer. "Hopefully they don't come to expect that every time we get knocked around a little we get a few days shore leave. I don't know that Starfleet would swing for that."
Maxun looked over at Remy, from his seat to her right, and grinned. "I guess it would all depend on the situation and how backed up the garage is at the station we would visit.
The Captain shook her head at Spello and amused look on her face. "Ensign Kash, send a message down to any team that's on the surface that everything needs to be packed up by this evening. If we need extra resources to make sure everything is taken care of, make sure those messages get funneled to the appropriate department."
"Aye, Captain," the Andorian responded without looking up from the ops console.
Kas smile glad to back, "Permission to leave the bridge?"
"Of course, you didn't need to report in, Commander. I know you had other matters to attend to," Remy responded.
Down in the ship's armoury, Xalanth had just finished storing the last of the phasers and body armour. He let out a slight sigh. Given his new arrival, he'd likely be on the skeleton crew or placed in charge of the shore patrol. Not that there was much he'd have done on shore leave other than spend as much time talking to his family as he could.
"Alright then, you all heard the captain." Thivi addressed a gaggle of very happy, very excited nurses in sickbay. Everyone had been pushed to the limit of late, especially with Brunel and their recent incident with the Atarans - but she was pleased to see all of them in relatively high spirits even despite that. "Go get cleaned up, and we'll be ready to hand over to gamma shift. When we're docked, go enjoy yourselves. I don't want to see those of you who don't need to be here, here. Understood?" She smiled to herself at the raucous call of 'yes, ma'am' her staff gave in response.

Kas exited the turbolift on deck seven moved to the Winters door and pressed the chime. He was eager to collect his daughter.
Sara answered the chime, letting Kas in, "Come on in. You just missed the Captain. Just told us the good news. Keena's in Alexandra's room helping her pack."
Nash could hear Kas speaking with Sara as he watched Keena collect her belongings. “Don’t forget to show your dad the pictures you drew. I hope he likes them as much as we do.” He knelt down in front of her just as Keena was finishing up.
“Thank you for staying with us. It was very nice having you here, little warrior. You know you can come play any time you want. As soon as Brunel is feeling better, ok?”
Keena got up and hugged Nash, before running to Kas and jumping into his arms. Kas kissed her cheek as he held her in a hug The little girl looked back at the Winters family and smiled. "Thank you for having me."
"Yes, thank you again. We'll have to have you over for dinner sometime." Kas smiled.
"Once things settle down, we'll look forward to that," Sara nodded.

In Science Lab 3 Ensign Kerr looked up from from one of the broken stations she was working on and glanced at T'lenn, who'd been acting as Assistant Chief since Capulet had taken the Chief position.
"What do you think skeleton crew means for the science crew?" She asked, trying to sound casual. The labs on the upper decks had been hit pretty hard in the attack.
"I believe that if you are looking to enjoy some time for shore leave, then an efficient use of our time would be to secure any ongoing experiments while we are en route to the starbase, as we should anticipate work crews will be given access to the damaged areas," T'lenn responded.
Dani gave a small nod and turned back to work.
T'lenn considered the young ensign for a moment and added, "It has been long proven that appropriate work life balance, including recreational time is beneficial to ones health and improves efficiency in the workforce. You should share that with your colleagues so that there will be little left to do on arrival."
Dani grinned to herself. "Yes, ma'am."
