Mission:
Gone, Without Ever Knowing the Way
Location: Main Bridge, USS Astrea and The Milano
Timeline: MD 02 0130 Hours
continued from:Away Team Member Osirin and an Open Comm, Part 4
When Osirin left the washroom to make his way back to the holodeck, he found Jaren sitting on a table in the galley that separated the port and starboard sides of the deck. Mimi was standing between his legs nuzzling Jaren's neck. Jaren's face was partially obscured by Mimi's hair as he whispered something her ear.
Osirin didn't know what Jaren was saying cheat by sensing, especially since he had a pretty good idea of what it might be.
He walked over and started nuzzling Jaren's neck.
Jaren turned and looked over at Osirin, his eyes narrowed slightly. "Everything okay? You were gone for a while."
Mimi also popped her head out curiously, her eyes beginning to take on a hazy appearance to them. She held on to Jaren and swayed back and forth as she watched Osirin and waited for his answer.
"Everything is fine now," he replied, keeping his tone smooth, or at least that was his intention, "the booze and drugs threw me for a loop. To be honest, it was more of a catching my breath moment than anything else."
"But, I'm okay now. I'm ready to party
"Really," Mimi said suspiciously, as she looked at Osirin up and down. She was still quite drunk and her manner of swaying made that obvious. "You seem like someone who would know how to handle themselves after a couple."
In answer to her accusation, he slowly removed his shirt. It may not have been his best response, but a distraction felt like the best approach to the situation.
The move worked well on Jaren, the Romulan turning toward Osirin, and pulling the Akadian toward himself in a hungry kiss. Mimi didn't mind at all, dropping into a seat with an amused expression as she watched.
Captain Johansen was on edge as Lieutenant Rodriguez began piloting the ship into the open space above them. She not only had a crewmember missing, but he was an exchange officer. They had no idea if he'd gone willingly, or if they were hostile what kind of firepower the ship he was on might have.
"Dammit," she muttered under her breath. "Capulet, focus on getting into their computers when able. I'm getting Lieutenant Cyn up here to run point on any incoming information," Remy stated. "Ensign Harper, Please send a message to Lt. Cyn indicating that I am requesting her presence on the Bridge immediately. Tell her we are attempting to locate a cloaked vessel that may have Sub-Commander Acainus on board."
Dani nodded seriously. "Aye Captain, right away."
Remy then turned back to the well of the Bridge, taking two steps toward the Ops station, "How's it looking out there?" Remy asked. "Does this look like it's going to work?"
"I believe so Captain. There is no reason that this should not work. In another few minutes, we should be ready to give it a go." Daynah replied. It helped that she used some of Alaryc Ral's knowledge on cloaked vessels to help her get the sensors running just right.
"Talk with Rodriguez, don't get ahead of one another," Remy said calmly, referring to the helm officer.
The turbolift doors slid open with a soft hiss, and Lieutenant Phaedrae Cyn stepped onto the bridge. Her sharp blue eyes scanned the room as she strode forward. She carried herself with measured confidence, calculating the situation before she even reached her station.
"You needed me, Captain?" she asked, her voice calm but focused.
The Captain turned to her right and confirmed her first officer was monitoring the ship's ascent and looked back to Cyn and suggested she take the seat to her left.
Without hesitation, Cyn adjusted course, making her way to the indicated chair. She settled in smoothly, her posture attentive as she awaited further instructions.
Once Cyn was situation the Captain explained, "Sub-Commander Osirin was transported off Freecloud some time ago, and Lieutenant Fulvia obtained the coordinates to a vessel. We picked up a trace of his comms a few minutes ago but lost them as soon as we had them. Ral believes the signal is coming from above us, so we are in a slow ascent to try to flush them out."
Remy glanced at the terminal to Cyn's left. "Capulet is focusing on access to their computer system. Hopefully we'll have information coming in from multiple directions if this works. I want you on point."
Cyn settled into her seat and activated her terminal with a swift tap, her fingers moving deftly across the interface. She initiated a secure link to Capulet’s station keying in an access code to establish a direct connection. The screen displayed a waiting signal, the system cycling as it sought to establish communication.
She exhaled softly, leaning back just enough to convey patience without losing her sharp edge. It would a few minutes before information was incoming, and until then, all Cyn could do was wait. Her gaze flicked briefly to the main viewscreen, but her thoughts remained on the pending call. Whatever Capulet had to report, it was important enough to pull Cyn to the bridge—now, it was just a matter of time.
Remy brought up Astrea's dorsal view on the main screen, the clouds Ral mentioned wouldn't have been noticeable if she hadn't mentioned them, but the view reminded Remy a bit like floating dust in a ray of sunshine. A cloak would easily compensate for the particles to the naked eye, still she stared at it, as if she might somehow see something.
There was a minute or two of intense almost deafening silence. Daynah worked intently concentrating on the task at hand. The sensors were on wideband and she had pretty much took power from everywhere to goose them up as much as possible. She was convinced that she could see the flea on the hair on the butt of a rat on the planet below. And yet... Just as she was about to give up the sensors got a bead. "I have it Captain. Heading two-one-zero mark seven nine. Its a ship alright." Daynah smiled and moved her hair from her face.
"Rodriquez, get on that heading," Remy ordered. "Anything else we can make out from what we picked up? Everyone, transfer any information to Cyn's station."
Cyn’s terminal lit up as streams of data flowed onto her screen. Her sharp blue eyes scanned the readout, parsing through the sensor information with practiced efficiency.
“I’m compiling the telemetry now,” she reported, fingers flying across the interface. “The vessel’s last known coordinates put it approximately 700 million kilometers from Freecloud. Their cloak is masking most of their energy signature, but the slight gravitational distortion from their movement gives them away.”
"Did they stop? Remy asked, her shoulders tensing at the news.
Cyn paused, narrowing her eyes. “They haven’t moved from their designated position yet, but their engines are running hot. If they’re preparing to break away, they already know we’re onto them.”
